    Have used SubRip before without problems. This time however when the OCR process is finished I can see the entire .srt file in the text window. From the File dropdown I select "Save as" but after it scrolls through the file, I get no option to name or set a destination for the file. It does however provide a new header to the window with a "Save" button on the right. Clicking on this toggles back to the previous header with "Save as".
    The title bar shows "Subtitles | NewFile.srt", but no such file can be found using search. Also if you try to exit the program says "Text file has not been saved. Are you sure you want to quit?"

    I have tried in the options to find a default save location, but no joy. I've tried SubRip 1.20 and 1.50b4 with the same results. Does anyone know what I might have done differently or what might be causing this problem with saving.

    In addition to the previous post. I tried with a different DVD rip and followed the same procedure. In this case after clicking on "Save as" and then "Save" I was presented with an option to name and save the file. The problem would appear to be something in the original IFO or VOB files that SubRip doesn't like.

    I get the entire text file and could manually copy it out (Not likely!) but just can't save it. Everything else works as expected.

    Any ideas?

    Why not simply do a copy and paste into a new notepad window (select all --> copy---> paste) and save?

    (control A ---> control C ------> control V)

    Unfortunately SubRip doesn't allow me to select using cntrl-A. That combination brings up the Advanced OCR Setup window. Neither can you use shift or control to select more than a single line. Even the single line it will select cannot be copied to clipboard with the usual control-C.

    But thanks for the idea.

    OK. For anyone who has similar problems. I tried to rip the subs in the same way as before, but downloaded a new Character Matrix, called MtzChMatrix. You can find it if you google the file "SubRip_MtzChMatrix.zip"
    After downloading and unzipping it, I put it in the ChMatric Folder in the main SubRip folder.
    Before starting the OCR process I selected it using the browse button beside the "Characters matrix file" box. I then pressed start and had to make a few selections to finish the OCR process. This time when I pressed "Save As" SubRip gave me a window saying :Subtitle contains non-standard characters. Save as UniCode instead of ANSI?" I said YES and it let me save the .srt file.

    The problem seemed to to be something to do with the ANSI code (I tried a few logical ones earlier, but it didn't help.) and UniCode.

    I'm happy to have the .srt file, but when I tried to exit SubRip, it says, "Confirm Test NOT saved! Do you really want to quit? Yes, and I have already checked it was saved. Must be a full moon. Thanks to MODS for keeping this forum up. It's a great resource. Cheers
