I would like to slow some film down to create a slow motion effect. I can't figure out how to do this in iMovie HD. Can it me done in iMovie? What applications that work with Power PC Mac could I use? Thanks.

Yes, slo-mo can be done in iMovie (all versions). It also may be done in any of the other NLE's (like FCP or FCE). If you just want to slow it down, QuickTime Pro lets you alter the playback speed in almost any video within the QuickTime Player.

In iMovieHD: Drop the clip in the timeline. Make sure it's selected. Click on "Editing". Click on "VideoFX". Select the "Fast/Slow/Reverse" effect. Adjust the speed. Click the "Apply" button. Done.

U R Awesome! This is a great help to me!

By the way, regarding DVDs burned with iDVD, on the menu screen when I push the right arrow button on the DVD remote not all the menu items light up. I have to push the up or down arrow button on the remote (to the DVD player hooked up to the TV) to get to some of the buttons in my DVD menu to be selectable. The buttons are arranged by me in a grid sort of pattern. Is there a way I can get all the buttons to be selectable using only the right or left arrow keys on the DVD remote? Do you understand what I am asking?

any version of iM offers slowmo, except iM08 (=vers7.x) .. read the Help in iM, how to accomplish in your version..

for superb slowmo, I like to use a free 3rd party software, HowTo on my website:

k_munic: Thanks for the HowTo. I didn't know about JES Deinterlacer. Looks like a very useful tool.

    it's a BEAST...
    • it does a better job on PAL<<>>NTSC conversion than the QTengine
I like the slowmo/speed up options
      it allows Gamma correction
it offers better options than 'skip field' for DeInterlacing..

    .. and it's free!!
