Alright guys - Help me out here - Canon Vixia HF S10

Bunch of High Definition MTS clips....... imported onto the hard drive.

Quickest way to get these things onto a DVD drive without much hassle?

In a format that any DVD player can read?

I can't help with your problem but I'm curious about your "banning". Something is wonky here. If you were banned then you wouldn't be able to post anything else at all.

Looking back at your posts it looks like the board admin gave you a warning for whatever was in your sig.

Send a pm or email to Baldrick , the board admin, and plead your case.

That's why I think something is not right here. Once you get the red banned under your name you shouldn't even be able to post.

I didn't see your sig link and for that matter am not a moderator either so I really have no say in the matter. I was just curious.

Spammers are usually just instant banned here so if your link looked even remotely like spam then that was probably why.

Like I said before send a pm to baldrick to try and get it worked out.

Yes, it makes sense. We have HUGE spam problems, even with users that ask technical av questions. So please do not use any links in your signature. It's okey for users that have been here for a while or if you ask in advance.

It's still quickest and easiest to go straight from camcorder to DVD recorder. Even if he has to copy the files back the camcorder. Probably even if he has to go out and buy a DVD recorder!

Thanks everyone. its insane how complex this process is. You know what would be super? If someone would create a 10 step cheat sheet for these types of things and just sticky it. I realize there are a thousand possible variables, but that's what the rest of the forum would be for. At the very least you could give people 5 second instructions on how to acccomplish the most common tasks. I've had this camera now for 2 weeks and still dont know how to do what I want with the end-result videos.

Okay I did a little looking into your options. You might consider putting your mts files into avstodvd. It's free and afaik it accepts mts as input and will output a standard dvd. Then you just burn with imgburn.

Thanks for all the help. I fear that im asking the same questions over and over in my other various threads, but I dont feel like im getting any closer. I think a big problem is that in every single thread, eveyrone has 10 programs they want me to download and install.

If I have Adobe Premiere and Encore, shouldn't I be able to do everything that these little plug-in programs do, and more?

    Code:
    1) Connect A/V cable from camcorder to DVD recorder.
    2) Press Play on camcorder.
    3) Press Record on DVD recorder.
    4) Press Stop on DVD recorder.
    5) Select Finalize/Close disc on DVD recorder.
    6) Mail disc to family members.

He's also assuming people have a DVD recorder sitting around, which most people don't. Most people have a computer with a DVD burner in it. The vast majority of people don't have DVD recorders.

The list I was asking for was tied to working with a computer, only.

You asked for the quickest way without much hassle. You can buy a DVD recorder for a lot less than Premiere and Encore. If you had just gone out and bought a DVD recorder when you first posted your question you'd be done by now.

A newb to DVD authoring bought an $800 editing program before finding out what options are available?

It looks like you're the one in "Pretend Land".

There's nothing pretend about being able to get a DVD recorder for your needs for less than $150.

Telling me I should have purchased a DVD recorder just so that his posts would become relevant, is "Pretend Land".

I am asking about working with a computer and DVD burner, only.

Reiterating that I should have bought a DVD recorder is not only unhelpful, its irrelevant.

Handyguy even pointed out that this was a thread about using the computer.

I have premiere, obviously, for other purposes, including editing.

You could have figured that out though.

That is the part on which people are focusing. That is the question most people are answering.

If you are going to be a complete ass, then what you are asking is impossible. You can't get anything onto a DVD drive, as it does not store anything. It only reads from or writes to discs.

If you love your Premiere and Encore so much, then I'm sure that you spend plenty of time reading the manuals that came with them.

The other part to Handyguy's post is "So what?" It takes more time to encode than to copy directly to disc.

"DVD Drive" is what it says. "MTS files imported onto a hard drive - getting them onto a DVD drive". And it was only *one* guy who kept mentioning a DVD recorder. Jagabo. Most people read the post correctly.

If you are going to be a complete ass
How am I being an ass? Because Im getting tired of arguing about a hypothetical scenario about a DVD recorder, when Im asking a completely different question?

Why are you trying to pick fights? Let it go.

I started the thread. I know what im asking for information on. If you have information that is relevant to the question I am asking, then say that. Stop instigating fights.

In other words, read the manuals

BTW, it sure took you long enough to post what programs you were willing to use. That should have been in your first post.
