umm youtube can take vob files just rename it to mpg. All of my clips are straight from dvd footage I made (dvd homedeck recorder). I took whatever clip was needed and renamed it back to mpg and the rest is history

If you want EXACT cuts(not cut at every I-Frame) you probably need to use something else like videoredo or the free cuttermaran with a mpeg2-encoder. They reconvert a bit at the cut so you get exact cuts.
