HELP - MKV reference framerate change problem

Hello,

I'm new in this forum and also in mkv topic and I need help with reencoding mkv to be playable on my player. I have a mkv file which has 16 ref-frames and I need to decrease it somehow to 3-5. I have to mention that original mkv file has no audio/video sync problem. I found Handbrake tool and try it but after conversion I got audio out of sync. Then I found MKVextract and MKVmerge tools so I tried to extract everything from original mkv file, convert only video file (only change I made there was decreasing of ref-frames) and then I merge reencoded video file with previously extracted audio file. But I got the same audio out of sync problem. I also tried Xvid4PSP but I got same audio problem.

Does anybody know where the problem could be or what I'm doing wrong?

Try uncropmkv,i find it better for re-encoding mkv and keeping the audio in synch and welcome to the forum.

What kind of sync problem? Progressive where it get worse and worse or same sync in the while video?

I would guess it's a mkv with variable framerate. Can you post the mediainfo details from the mkv ?
