Hi to all here in the forum I am new, but not new to video encoding.

I have made some nice looking movies out of a dvd in flv and put them on the web. Everyhting works ok, except, the free player I am using to embed the videos in the webpage is not showing the time how long the movie is playing or where the playhead is.

When I open the movie in VLC, there is also no time showing up. Only in Quicktime so far, the time is shown as on any regular mov File.

Software used is the latest available ffmpeg X on the Mac

    thanks

You probably need to fix the flv headers(add onMetaData tag), for windows try http://www.buraks.com/flvmdi/ or mac http://www.inlet-media.de/flvtool2

    Hi,

Thanks Baldrick, your reply was the right direction. I had some trouble to install flvtool2 (as a Mac user) I am more at home at the GUI not the terminal, but I managed to get it up and running.

Interesting is: I did the movie conversion with ffmpegX and the meta data(s) are in the movie. They are just not visible in the flash players. I did not have to add any metatag or time.

All I did was to use the parameter -U which invoked the meta tags. After that a check with -P showed all the nice tags and the flashplayer also could see it. (Before using -U a -P check brought up nothing).

    Thanks, Job done.
    Have a great day.
