I have a LG RH2T80 DVD Recorder and since new the DVD slide has been a challenge! It would take 3 or 4 attempts for the machine to accept a blank or commercial DVD, but eventually it would.
Now it refuses 99 times out of 100 and even opens and closes the DVD drawer at random thoughout the day and night. it is impossible to switch the machine off, since it wants the door shut before it sleeps - like most of us?
It has come to the point where I am getting severe pressure from wife and daughter, (missing Pride and prejudice hits) to fix it or buy another machine.
LG support say Hmmmmm...... never heard of this before? Does anyone out there, (with wife and daughter missing Darcy) have any experience or thoughts?
Thanks Rob

For future reference, next time you get a defective electronics item. Run, don't walk to exchange it while you can.
If it is under warranty send it in to be repaired, It is broken. If no warranty, Replace it.
Sorry to give bad news, however it was defective from new and got worse.
Some common problems include the laser not being able to "identify" the disc due to the laser being dirty (you could use an optical cleaner), using cheap blanks (or the manufacturer).
Could turn the dvd player off with the tray out (and empty) and force close the tray (it could be obstructed so it's not closing 100%).
If you know what you are doing and it's warranty expired, open the unit and watch the drive take the dvd and see if the dvd mounts on the spindle, or that the spindle has not gotten jammed, or scewed.
