Are you a procrastinator? Do you wait till the last minute on everything?

I am sometimes on somethings. But to say I always procrastinate is not true.

    How about you?

I sometimes procrastinate, but not usually to the last minute. Tomorrow is a great day. Until it gets here, then it's today, so tomorrow is still a great day.

I'll have to think about that..... I think so, but let me get back to you on that.

I always made quick decisions at my job, even it there were consequences, but we got things done. But now I have the time to put things off since I took a early retirement. I get around to doing things eventually.

I would answer, but I'm going to wait until everyone else has answered. Then I'll think about it...

actually, I was taught that hard work doesn't pay off at all and to always cheat, frame, and stab the other guy in the back to get ahead of the pack...sad but true...I had to overcome these ethics from my parents generation to become a authentic hippie

Some of these replies are great.

Truthfully, I put off some of the dumbest things and attack some of the hardest. What I find is that the load of crap I put off yesterday can be taken care of rather quickly today.

I attacked another, larger issue yesterday, but ran into a road block. Now I can put off completing that task until I attack and conquer said road block.

The cycle's vicious, I tell you...

Why put off until tomorrow what you can get out of doing altogether?

As a general rule: NO, I'm not a procrastinator.
My theory is if I bust my ass NOW to get all my shit done (CORRECTLY!) right away that will give me much more time to screw around later.

Also, I firmly believe that if you're on time, you're late. Show up a little early - always, dammit.

I remember one friend constantly screwing up his life with his wishy-washy-dilly-dally mindset and endless procrastinating. He was always going nowhere real fast.

If he were to write a book it should be called "I'm Gonna ... "

But people will make the argument that he doesn't kill himself with trivial stuff all the time. True, and NOT true.

Here's a tip for you folks, which helps me all the time. Look into the Pareto Principle, or rather the 80/20 rule. It will demonstrate how you don't need to get everything done, just the important things.

I don't believe in "last minute". If something is due at 12:02 p.m. on the 15th, and I finish it at 12:01 p.m. on the 15th, who gives a crap? If you wanted it at 8:02 a.m. instead of 12:02 p.m., or even on the 13th or 14th, then you should have said that to begin with. I don"t believe in that philosophy of "on time is late, and early is on time". That's something said by people with not enough to do in their life. I have a full schedule, and sometimes at the "last minute" is the time made available.

I handle the important things without delay. The unimportant things can wait... maybe I'll get to them, maybe not.

Drives my wife crazy because we can never agree on what the "important things" are.

My bill payment is usually prioity one (on time) but some of my customers think bill paying is less a priority. Often it is the accounts payable dept of the larger customers that game you the most.

Off topic: Sounds like WWII here with piston and turbojet CDF tanker planes and jet copters fighting a fire (Yuba fire in Dobbins area).

Wow, if spending time on such stuff, when it has nothing to do with the topic/priority at hand, isn't procrastination, I don't know what is... :P

I like to get as much done as possible today, because I don't know what surprises tomorrow will bring. Tomorrow I may really need the time for something even more important than today's work. If I put off today's work, tomorrow I might really regret that I didn't do it when I could.
