corel video studio 12 5.1 surround headscratcher

hi ,just using this for the first time and can't get past this hitch.anyone out there familiar with this software?

while creating a photo avchd,in audio edit view i check 5.1 surround sound on for my mp3.sure enough a nice little 6 band equalizer appears.however when i peek into project settings towards the end the audio is listed as dolby stereo,which is what i get.

why no 5.1 surround?
