I'm sure this an obvious answer, but whats the deal with their still being analog stations broadcasting? I was setting up my TV at the new place, and since I ditched cable I had to scan for channels. There is no way to make the TV skip analog channel search, so I had it go ahead and do it. Once complete, I had all the digital channels and 2 analog channels as well. I live out outside of Indianapolis, and it appears that our NBC affiliate which use to broadcast on Ch. 13 is broadcasting a news/weather station that also shows some cartoons on Saturdays mornings still. There also seems to be a Spanish language station still broadcasting. What gives?

This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.
Many analog stations are exempt from the digital switch for various reasons.
Low-power stations were exempt from the June 12, 2009 deadline. They must switch in a few years, but were given extra time because they don't have the same financial resouces as full-power stations.
(Edited to correct a spelling error.)
It may be a rural translator. They can operate until 2012.
Some stations that don't interfere are doing "Nightlight" service. These are mostly Ch2-6.

It's channels 52 and 27. They are both fairly weak, but almost watchable.

27 in Indianapolis is ION WIPX-DT (virtual 63.1). This should be digital.
Also on 27 is WSOT-LP, a low power analog translator in Marion, IN. They have a construction permit to convert to digital.
52 is no longer in the UHF TV band. I see no stations or translators listed near Indianapolis. It may be a rural translator.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
