In which way do you wish to "edit" them? Sony Vegas and Adobe After Effects should do well.

What is the camera and which format and bit rate are you recording?

    Describe your edit goals.

What HD output format do you want? What will it play on?

    What is your software budget?

  5. there are no free simple avchd editors that i know of. you might try sony vegas studio platinum, it has avchd support, but i'd be sure to get the demo first as they only advertise "sony avchd" hd files work. so it will probably depend on how close to spec the sanyo avchd is.
