Hi All,
I'm new here but wondering if someone can offer any advice.
I've been using AVStoDVD lately and wanted to create customisable chapters so downloaded version 2.2.0 which allows it. However, I can't seem to load an AVI into it. Everyone I load gives me the following error:
Error 52
Bad file name or number
If I uninstall 2.2.0 and install an older version I don't get this error!
I've searched the net with no success.
Anyone seen this before with anything or know how to get rid of this error?
Thanks

Wait for a newer release. Same thing here, the current version has a few problems (especially with NTSC). The Alpha though, works fine for my needs.

What do you mean I can't seem to load an AVI into it? I can hardly believe that you cannot:
- Press '+' button
- Select media file
- Go ahead with settings/conversion
A screenshot could help to understand your issue

P.S. Release 2.2.1 is quite ready -
There are some problems with SourceForge File Release System.
Anyway, here you are a "light" AVStoDVD 2.2.1 release:

I know how to load a media file into AVStoDVD and when I say "I can't seem to load an avi into it" that is exactly what happened. I never had any issue with previous versions of AVStoDVD, or any other DVD backup freeware and I don't get an issue with 2.2.1 but when I 'tried' to load an avi (and I mean ANY .avi) into v2.2.0 I always (and I do mean ALWAYS) received the error:
Error 52
Bad Filename or Number
Once I have backed up my current DVD I shall uninstall v2.2.1 and reinstall v2.2.0 and I will post a screen shot!
Do you have a test .avi file which I can load into v2.2.0 and I will also post the screenshot for the error that gives? -
@Dooker
I apologize if my post sounded "insulting": it was absolutely not my goal.
I am happy that you solved with 2.2.1 release. About the screenshot, you can use any video you have. When you will uninstall 2.2.1 please be sure you have removed anything (I mean folder and win registry) before going back to 2.2.0

Your statement:

- Press '+' button
- Select media file

Does sound quite patronising and insulting. However, I do believe you when you say you did not mean it this way.
Anyway, I uninstalled v2.2.1 and went back to v2.2.0 after deleting all traces of the previous version. Here is the error I receive with v2.2.0. This happens with EVERY .avi I load. So I'll go back to my original statement "I can't seem to load an AVI into it" ;o)

@Dooker,
I suspect that the error is due to the icons swap issue that I can see from your screenshot.
The icons swap may be caused by an installation of a new release over a not properly cleaned previous one. I suggest you to try to install 2.2.0 in a brand new folder and then retry.
When AVStoDVD loads a new video, it enables new buttons (with their icons). If any button is not found, here you are the error message.
Let me know
Bye
