Okay, I'm not sure what I'm missing. Yes, I'm new to working with x64 Windows.

I've got the 64-bit version of MPCHC, installed the x64 version of ffdshow (and enabled subtitles there), grabbed the 64-bit version of VSFilter.dll and copied it to the SysWow64 directory (if I remember the directory name correctly... and, don't I have to register the DLL, somehow? I know how to do that with 32-bit DLLs, but not 64-bit DLLs.)
Even installed the VobSub/DirectVobSub package (just to be sure) and Haali Media Splitter (again, just to be sure). Even after all that, however, no (soft) subtitles appear when playing videos in MPCHC. They DO appear if I load the videos into MPC (32-bit, of course), but I'm trying to get it to work in MPCHC. As far as I can tell, I've got all the display options set correctly in MPCHC, and everything. It just... doesn't want to display subtitles, even through ffdshow's own subtitle engine.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Did you forget to set VMR9/7 renderless set in the output options?

No - it's set to VMR7 renderless. (That's one of the settings I meant with "all the display options set correctly in MPCHC," actually. I probably should have said that instead of the vague quote.)
