My sister has a new video camera which records to some sort of DVD disk. I wanted a copy of a home movie, so I copied the contents to a removeable HDD and took it home.
I can not find a way to play the video on my home computer???
Also, I'd like to convert the movie to AVI so that I can edit it in Vegas Video V8.x. Is this possible? Thanks.
PS. Here's the list of folders & files which make up this video:

Looks like an HD camcorder (AVCHD file/folder structure).
There are more comprehensive guides around here (and check out the "What Is -> Blu-ray" link on the top left), but basically, you'll need the following tools (assuming you're running Windows):
- VLC Player (aka VideoLan) to play the .m2ts files in the STREAM directory
- tsMuxeR to join the m2ts files together
if you want to make it into an AVI, you'll need to convert it - HandBrake, Xvid4PSP, etc. If you want to make a DVD out of it, you'll need to resize the video first.
Hopefully that'll get you started -
