    How do I remove subtitles from .avi video?

    You would need to provide more information for a adequate answer.

    What sort of subtitles? I'm guessing they are permanently burned into the video. If so, you really can't remove them, except by covering them up or cropping them out.

    If you drop the file into MediaInfo, it may tell you the format of the video. AVI is just the container name and covers dozens of formats.

    Open the video in a player like VCL or The KM Player. Play with the subtitle settings. If you cannot turn the subtitles off then they are permanently part of the image. This leaves you with either blurring them out (ugly) or losing part of the image through cropping (could be a lot of the image, depending on how the subs were done).

    My suggestion ?

    Go back and rip the original DVD without the subs, and then encode to AVI.
