    Hi there,

I have a bunch of .mpg files that I've recorded off the air (in HD) from ABC. I'm just trying to do some simple fade in/fade out transitions along with music overlay. Strangely, my clips from ABC keep crashing Vegas while a few clips I have from ESPN HD import just fine...Not sure what the deal is, but I'm really frustrated with it. Can anyone recommend other software that will allow me to do simple transitions and maintain HD quality?

Here is the error I'm getting with Vegas -

AC3. Just noticed something rather interesting. Every single football game I have recorded from ESPN HD imports just fine into Vegas. Every single recording I have from ABC makes it crash, every time. So it seems that it might have something to do with the video file.

Is there any way to rebuild the .mpg file to fix whatever underlying problem might be wrong with it? I've tried running it through VideoRedo Quickstream fix. Same problem.

My favorite MPEG editor by far is MPEG Video Wizard DVD. Excellent selection of tools, filters and transitions etc. It only re-encodes changes you have added, everything else is direct stream copied. I use it regularly on HD MPEG captures.

Update - A thousand 'Thank-You's' for the recommendation of that program. It did EXACTLY what I wanted to do without any fuss whatsoever.

Absolutely perfect for what I needed to do. Thank you so much.

Here is the fruit of my work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-4NXBQYzZg

Glad to here MVW worked for you. Your video was excellent. As a long time fan of the Maize Block M; one bright spot in a rather dismal season. But, this is a new (and hopefully better) year. GO BLUE!!

Thank you! I follow the team very closely, avid reader of mgoblog.com and michigan.rivals.com; I think we will be much improved this year. Make sure to check back for some videos later this year!

    Go Blue!!
