Cant get sound from recorded TV in Power Director 7

Hi Im new to this and dont know proper video audio and computer speak, so sorry if this is unclear to everyone

I have purchased a media centre and have recorded some tv and want to cut the adds out using Power Director.

I have recorded the tv using Cyberlink TV Enhance and am using PowerDirector 7 for editing.
I can edit the picture no problem at all but when it comes to sound there is none. Ive tried downloading all sorts of codecs but still no audio at all.
If i look at the properties of the clip it shows:
Video is: MPEG-4 AVC
Audio: Unknown format

Does anyone have any ideas?

What does mediainfo say about the audio codec in the clip?

Hi Baldrick thanks for reply, Ive downloaded mediainfo and it tells me that the video stream is AVC and the audio is AAC. does that mean anything to you?
