    Hello,

I'm trying to author DVDs and am faced with the following issue: the subtitles are out of sync. The procedure I follow is,

1 - use Handbrake to generate a .avi movie file
2 - use DeVeDe to make a DVD iso image, the subtitles (.srt) are added in the DeVeDe project. However they are out of sync.

How could I solve this please?

    Thanks,

    André Luiz

What video file are you starting off with? The handbrake step seems unnecessary to me.

    edit fixed my UN typo

    Hello,

Thanks for the reply! Indeed, it is necessary to generate the .avi file. However, my question is regarding the subtitles sync. Can I add the subtitles file in Handbreak audio/subtitle option itself? In addition, Handbreak cannot design a nice DVD layout as DeVeDe does.

    Sincerely,

    André Luiz

The handbrake step seems UNnecessary .
What is your source video before converting with devede?
Are the subs in sync with the source video?

Yeah thanks baldrick. I meant unnecessarry. One to many conversions going on there. Try converting your source files with something like winff (there are linux versions) to dvd compatible mpeg then author with dvdstyler , qdvdauthor or any other gui for dvdauthor in linux that supports subtitles

    Hello,

Thanks for the message. I´m using Handbreak because the movie is in a DVD and I wanted to separate the movie from the remaining part of the DVD. The DVD does no have subtitles and I´m trying to add subtitles in my country language.

    Sincererely,

My guess is that the subtitles that you are adding are set at a different fps than the video.

The video and sub's need to match frame rate. Not sure what linux tool can do that for you. I know there are a couple of windows tools that can.
