Is there any way I can get the black magic intesnity to capture with windows movie maker? For some weird random reason I was able to capture video with movie maker! but after I shut the program down it gives me a error "no capture device detected" even though my other programs detect it and capture! The reason why I want to use movie maker is because I can capture video in a compressed format, unlike the other programs I have used, the program it comes with and Vegas video both record to uncompressed avi

I guess you want to record in HD(720p) quality? Then forget realtime wmv compression.
it may be possible, i'll check when i get home. Plus I need to know what version of Movie Maker? I've got my Blackmagic Intensity Plus working on Vista Ultimate 64 and rarely have any problems with it. When i do have problems it's usually because the card settings needed adjusted from the Control Panel options first. As for realtime wmv compression. You can indeed do it with Windows Media Encoder, you just cant do it from the capture card.
Well, I don't care about recording in 720p, my computer can hardly handle it, the audio drifts out of sync, when I got windows movie maker to work it recorded 720x480 with only 3mb per min video instead of 3gig per min
Alright, bumping this old thread. I am tired of running out of space every time I record 1 session of game play, and I don't have money for a new hard drive. When I had Windows Movie Maker working with the BMI, it worked flawlessly recording compressed video while still keeping a decent quality. I Notice, every time I reformat my hard drive and start with a fresh copy of windows xp the BMI will work the the Windows Movie Maker but only once, then it will keep giving me the no capture card found error!! It will pop up with the selection of capture devices for a few seconds, then disappear and the error will pop up. Is there ANY thing I can do do fix that? OR is there another capturing program that will allow me to capture the video in a compressed format?
I would make sure you are going into the BMI Settings of the Media Encoder software FIRST and select the MJPEG codec. OR select this from whatever software you are using. It will still make large files, but nothing like the uncrompressed capturing.
