    In my devices folder I see listed;

    IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers

    OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller

    If I do have firewire, what is so great about it compared to USB 2?

    Thanks for any help!

    You should be able to tell by your computer. Do you know what a firewire insert looks like?

    Firewire port is different than a USB port. You should be able to tell the difference.

    You can use the port for camcorders, pro equipment, some hard drives, networking, cable box MPeg-TS capture and the list goes on.
