Hi. I finally got into trying to finish restoring a whole bunch of old tapes I have, mostly with old rock / metal clips from 80/90's era.
I got 2 Panasonic FS200 I got from eBay, one of them has much more noise than the other but has slightly better, more vivid colours. The noise issue almost disappears when using tapes recorded by the same machine. Maybe it's some internal adjustment related to tracking, I used the manual tracking on it just to be sure but it allways has more noise.
Can someone please advice me on what to do before spending cash on trying to get it repaired ? I know the video heads on these things last a whole bunch of time (anamorphic material) and I think if it was the heads the colors wouldn't be better on it.
Is there some adjustment that can be made ?
I know a local that has been doing VCRs for 20 years or more but he has no experience on this model and probably won't bother reading the service manual.
Thanks
José
