Hi all, I really hope you can help me promptly as I am in quite urgent need with a tight deadline! Here's the deal.

I'm running the NewTek VT5 on a pc, capturing a live show. I'm currently in a rehearsal. All sources plugged into the VT5 are sending a 16:9 signal through S-video. The VT5 is outputting (at the moment) through an S-Video cable (but will be using component for the actual show recording) and we are capturing on a digital video recorder (datavideo DN-300). The problem is that the device isn't recognizing the 16:9 signal. It only seems to record in 4:3. Now I know that the system is capable of recording a 16:9 signal because I have captured directly from a camera through firewire and this worked fine.

So the question really is, is an S-video cable capable of sending a 16:9 picture that will be recognized as 16:9 by a digital recorder or can this only be done digitally through the firewire?

Hope this makes sense, found it difficult to make it clear what I wanted...

  2. S-Video doesn't support 16:9.
