I have Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 on Win XP SP3, and when I try to make a DVD (straight to DVD or to DVD ISO first) using a mpg file from WinTV2000 capped at the preset DVD LP quality setting that's about 3.7GB, Ulead doesn't go very far in the process and stays at the 3% status screen where it says something like converting audio files and stays there for at least 24 minutes before I canceled the process. I didn't have any other programs running and Task Manager showed DVD MF was using 100% of my CPU power.

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3SE on Win XP SP2 machine doesn't have any problems with the same mpg file or same sized file or bigger.

Anyone have the same problem and found the solution? Thanks in advance.

Maybe it's pickier about the source file than moviefactory 3. I would try "fix" the mpg file using videoredo using the quickstream fix or using projectx(free, and demultiplex it to video and file that you import in moviefacory) and then try author the new file.

There are no problems with smaller video files capped the exact same way as the bigger video files, so I think the problem is specific to file size on MF 6. Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 SE doesn't have problems with bigger files that MF 6 has problems with.

Just as a test, I loaded a DVD compliant clip of 3.89(4.18) GB into DVDMF6.

True that it reported that in was 'converting' although the 'Do not convert compliant files' is set (the default). As the whole process in making the dvd (to HDD folders) took about 10 minutes it was evident that no actual conversion took place and the 'converting' is simple Ulead-speak for de-muxing as part of the authoring process.

So file size is NOT the issue.

btw I NEVER select 'burn to disk' or 'iso'. If you exceed the disk size you cannot use them. With dvd folders you can 1) test the final dvd in a software player such as PowerDVD and 2) shrink it to fit if neccessary with a utility such as DVDShrink

I think this might increase the chances of getting a normal outcome: exiting Kaspersky prior to launching video capture program and keeping it off while using Ulead DVD MF6.
