You shouldn't need an amplified splitter for a two way split. Is the signal OK on the first TV with the cable box? It so try a cheap splitter upstream of the cable box. If the signal is too weak, the cable company can adjust gain in their equipment.

Look for 1GHz or more bandwidth on a passive splitter.

Call the cable company. They should give you a strong signal.

Get a distribution amp like the one in your first post.

If the signal is crap coming into the house the distribution amp won't help. TV sets have lots of RF amplification already.

I recall these kinds of problems when people were tapping free connections in the apartment building cable closet.

Used to have a problem like that.
The cable compnay put a device like that on the house and that solved all of the problems.

But it turned out that the cable to the house had to be replaced in the first place.
If you have underground wires that may be something to look into

The big test for the cable company is to show that the incoming line to the first cable box/TV works. Beyond that they will charge for correcting internal house cabling issues.
