I've been trying different programs to edit my digital camera footage. Somewhere along the way something happened and now all my video clips seem to have only the audio component. Windows media player will not play the video clips and when I import them to a video editor they show up as audio only. But I can still play them in quicktime just fine. What's going on?

    dv-avi files? or .dv files?
What video editors? Windows Movie Maker?

Maybe you just need a dv codec like Cedocida DV Codec.

    The files are .avi

I downloaded several trial versions and free programs to try them out... vReveal, VirtualDub, Sony Vegas, etc. I kept getting a message asking whether I wanted to use ffdshow but I've stopped getting that message. I don't know what I did, it was working before.

Looks like the DV codec was the problem. I installed the Cedocida DV Codec you suggested and everything is working again.

    thanks!
