  1. Hello all, perhaps somebody could help me here...

I am ripping a DVD of a local pro wrestling event for editing in Final Cut Pro, and I am noticing that when I rip it with MPEG Streamclip into .dv I am getting dropped frames for some reason. I have re-started the Mac and tried again, only to find dropped frames again. I played the DVD in my drive and it plays down fine, no dropped frames, so it should rip fine...right?

What I really do not understand is that I have done this before with the same equipment with no problems.

I am combining this footage with my own handheld footage to do a multiclip in FCP so everything has to be synced up, dropped frames are causing it to go out of sync which is a major problem.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much!

I've seen it happen on commercial DVDs,
where I just wanted a few seconds....

Try ripping to the HD using MTR, not MpegStreamclip.
Then, open resulting output in MpegStreamclip, and fix the TimeCode
Breaks. Then Export to .DV for use in FCP.
    Should be fine then?

Other things that could be a problem, are if you are converting to .DV
on a heavily fragmented external drive, or an external drive
    with a bad FW cable.
