I have downloaded videos into a drive but am unable to watch it in the public computers because the company policy does not allow installation of additional software player such as Real Player, Power DVD, Adobe Player, Nero Show Time etc. Is it possible to upload the video to somewhere for converting to the .WMV online (for window media player) or there is some method to watch the downloaded video using online software player without installation of it?

If a Man Doesn't Drink When He's Living, How In the Hell Can He Drink When He's Dead?
if it's under 10 minutes and 1 gb you could upload it to youotube and watch it there. assuming it's not a copyrighted video.
You can try running a media player off a usb key, but it depends how restricted the permissions are set on the public computer. There is no installation, and nothing in the registry is changed.
.e.g vlc has a portable usb version , and I think there are several others
media player classic is completely self contained. Our computers at work are locked down so we can't install anything or even write to the c drive except for a particular folder and Media player classic fires right up and plays lots of different video files.
If that doesn't work then we need to know the file type..
Media Player Classic is a terrific tech tool to watch the video. I saved it in my drive. It is just like a portable video player and no installation required. It can play lots of different video files except the .mp4 (MPEG-4) and .fly (Flash Video) files by tesing. Can anyone confirm it or there was something wrong. The default Object of type is Media files (all types). Thanks greymalkin.Originally Posted by greymalkinIf a Man Doesn't Drink When He's Living, How In the Hell Can He Drink When He's Dead?
Try Media Player Classic Home Cinema, which has the same single executable design as MPC, but also has built-in support for MP4 playback. Not sure if it does flv though.

MPC is a directshow player, so you need system installed codecs, and if your PC doesn't have the required splitters and decoders installed, it won't play the video
MPC-HC has built in support for flv and multiple containers, you just have to activate it in the options=>internal filters=>source filters . You may have to activate some transform filters as well depending on what type of flv
VLC is self contained, and doesn't require external or system installed splitter & decoders, and comes as a portable version or installed version
Use VLC, as others told you. The portable version.
It's right. The company computer does not support the mpc though I can play the video in my pc without installation of the mpc. I will test the VLC portable version. Where can I locate the VLC portable version instead of the installed version? I got it from the direct link at http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VLC_media_player but it requires installation after downloading.

Google "VLC Portable".
First link is this: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portableLa Linea by Osvaldo Cavandoli

Thanks for the info. I saw the VLC_Portable_0.9.9.paf.exe still requires installation. It is not like the MPC that no installation is required. I cannot install the VLC Portable in the public computer. Should I install it in the USB drive directly? In addition, the VLC does not support the Real Video VBR, right?

You are not going to find something that plays all formats. MPC-HC is the simplest and covers many formats. VLC Portable is also good (and yes, you need to expand it to your USB drive and run it from there - that is how portable apps work), but a standalone player that plays everything doesn't exist.

Download the zipfile version, which is the version that does not use an installer, simply unzip on you USB flash drive & that's itI saw the VLC_Portable_0.9.9.paf.exe still requires installation.
VLC has partial support for Real Media according to the official VLC website, but I can't tell you what that means. You're not going to want to hear this, but if you have more than 1 or 2 videos that use Real Media and it's in some video segment that particularly interests you, you need to find another source for your entertainment. Real Media just sucks big time and if I was never able to watch it again, it would not be some great catastrophe for me. Anyway, remember that we have provided suggestions on how to watch videos on a computer that you're not supposed to watch anything on, so just be glad that something works.Originally Posted by coody
By testing, the VLC portable works on the public computers but does not support the .mvb video except the audio. It displayed “No suitable decoder module: VLC does not support the audio or video format "RV30". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.” The MPC-HC supports most of the video formats but it does not play in some public pcs. That ends up in the forum. .
