Yes, I know, it has been asked before and I've read many threads on this forum already. But none of them seem to mention this problem.
When I set everything and preview movie (also selecting cyrillic font, as suggested in other thread), it looks fine with both cp1251 and utf-8 subtitles. But when I actually encode movie, I see underscore instead of all non-western characters. (Practically, only punctuation marks and spaces are left intact.)
Log file does not seem to have any errors. Well, it has "ODML: Aspect information not (yet?) available or unspecified, not writing vprp header." several times and a lot of "1 duplicate frame(s)!", but both does not look relevant.
Have you encountered something like this before?
Thank you,
Nikita

Thread: Burning subtitles to video

Just want to bump it up.
Even if that's some fatal unfixable problem, knowing it would help: I'll know for sure that vmware is my only option.
Thanks
The issue may be the bug in mencoder that does not respect the settings for font and text encoding, that wasn't present in an older version (2005-01-23 binaries for ffmpegX 0.0.9s). There are a few other posts on this.
