I'm using WMP11 to serve renamed VOBs (renamed to MPG) to my PS3.

Some play perfectly, but the larger files stop playing at certain points. When I try to play them on the PC in WMP11 they play fine all the way through.

Also - I saw VOB listed in supported formats on MS web page, but even after buying the Roxio codec I can't get the non-renamed VOBs to appear in WMP11. Note - I have a single, full-length VOB and nothing else (consolidated with DVD2One.)

    Any help on either issue?

    Thanks,

    -D

You can't (usually) just rename a VOB to MPG. Try taking it out of the VOB container to a straight mpeg file with VOB2MPEG.

I use the VOB2MPEG method mentioned and stream MPGs to the PS3 via PS3 Media Server...

Try streaming with PS3 Media Server or Tversity...See if that helps..

WMP11 doesn't stream so much as makes the file available through a network share.

If you can put the video on a thumb drive or DVD (as a file, not a video) and play it on the PS3, then you should be able to play it on your PS3.

Ahhhhh.... Just reread your original post which says some files play fine. So, its not so much a codes issue as much as a file SIZE issue. Your PC and PS3 connected via wireless?

WMP is, like it's ability as a player. mediocre as a streaming tool. PS3 Media Server handles a far wider range of video formats, transcodes anything the PS3 can't handle, and is just a far superior option.
