    Hi

What I want to do is using deinterlace filters while I'm capturing, so I dont need to confront the "problem" later, while I'm watching. Currently I'm using DVBViewer with a recording service, which just records the raw mpeg2 stream. I have a Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-TD Stick TV tuner, and it uses BDA drivers. I don't know if the tuner can be used with VFW or WDM drivers.

Which software(s) can solve this for me?

The issue is that any good quality deinterlacing filter is simply too slow to allow for realtime use. The filters that are fast enough - simply field abandonment or basic blending - don't produce very good results.

What are you intending to do with the footage ?

If you are watching on the PC, you are better off using a player that can deinterlace on playback. The results will be no worse than using a poor deinterlacer while capturing, but at least no damage has been done to the footage. This means you can re-encode at a later date using a decent deinterlacer if necessary.

If you are going to author for TV playback, deinterlacing is not recommended at all.

How come there be such a difference when using deinterlace while capturing against deinterlacing on playback?

There isn't. Neither are all that good.

Well, I'm satisfied with the results ffdshow is giving me, using deinterlace on playback, so what are my options?

The best option is to take the stream as is, and deinterlace on playback. This makes capture very easy, and also saves you having to re-encode the video during capture. Between deinterlacing and re-encoding you risk much lower quality than you are getting now.

If you must filter on the fly then about the only option I can think of is virtualdub. However I don't know whether or not it will work with your card. I know it won't see my digital tuner at all, and crashes on anything that uses DirectShow().

Realtime de-interlace doesn't exist in a consumer level.

There is a work around: Grab the stream and store it to a USB HDD. Then, use a popcorn hour or any other nmt solution, to upscale it and playback it at 576p or 720p. Then, using the component connections, re-capture it with a Hauppauge HD PVR TV Tunner.
Is it worth it? Probably no.

So, better leave it that way, "as is". Your PC gonna do an excellent job on de-interlace it realtime!
