On the forums I've noticed replies with white boxed quotes from prior posts... I'd like to learn how to do that too... who can tell me how or where to find the instructions?

Just click on the "quote" button on the far right corner of the post that you want to quote.
"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own" - the Prisoner
(NO MAN IS JUST A NUMBER)
be seeing you ( RIP Patrick McGoohan )
See those funny little buttons at the top of your post & every post....Originally Posted by PosRole

I already tried that in a reply and it just put a "quote notation" not a white box that distinguished my reply from the quoted text.

I just did it again as a test...Originally Posted by Noahtuck

When you click on the quote button, you have to recite this chant quickly:
owa tagoo siam
"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own" - the Prisoner
(NO MAN IS JUST A NUMBER)
be seeing you ( RIP Patrick McGoohan )
When you click on the "Quote" box, you will get a dialoguse box as you already know. The text between the quotation marks will appear in your post.
There are no problems - only chances to excel.

If you don't want to highlite the whole quote, you can hit the reply button, copy the text that you want to highlite and click the Quote button...
and hit the preview button to put the text in quotes then hit reply.owa tagoo siam
Easier to just do a "quote reply" then delete the parts you don't want to reference, as above.Originally Posted by DarrellS
And note that inside the quote tag is the name of the person you're quoting. You can edit that if you want to cite someone else:

Click on the red "BBCode" word in the "Options" to the left of the text entry area for a comprehensive explanation.

Thanks Alan (and everyone) this is exactly the tutoring I requested. If there are any other navigational or neat aspects you like to share - please do... I'm really intrigued by this forum and how the technology works so elegantly.Originally Posted by AlanHK

The forum is presently running on phpBB2 ( http://www.phpbb.com/ ) software with extensive modifications by Baldrick. If you look at: http://www.videohelp.com/about you will see a bit more about the setup. The same link is to the left edge of this page, along with other info.
