I think I'm feeling a little bit lost on all the LG Blu-day burners on the market. There are 3 models that are currently on the market and I'm not sure what to pick.
There is the GGW-H20L that is the old model that reads Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
There is the GBW-H20L that is more expensive and newer model than the GGW but it seems to be the same as the GGW-H20L bit without HD-DVD HD-DVD support. So more expensive but less features but newer.
And just recently it seems to be a yet another newer BH08LS20 model that seems to be 8X vs the other 2 6X models. It's not even on the LG US site yet it's available at Best Buy. I do see it on the global LG site but can't seem find much information about the BH08LS20 other than the specifications on the LG site and some small writeups. No real world user experience posts on forums it seems. I'm a little weary since it's so new.
Price wise, they all seem to be around the $200-250 range. I'm so confused since all 3 are on the market but different stores carry different ones. I don't know what to buy. I just want the best one! I'm leaning towards the BH08LS20. Just because it's the newest one, but newest is not always better. Can anyone help shed some light on me? Much thanks.

this one is by far the best of the LG,s BH08LS20
I got a pioneer as i cant get the BH08LS20 in the uk anywhere
How does the pioneer one compare to the LG? I'm not dead set on a LG. I just want whats best around the $200-$250 price range. At the time when I started spec-ing out my HTPC, the GGW-H20L was best, but more started to pop up and it got confusing.

Just FYI the PIONEER Blu-ray drives are only compatible with VISTA operating system. It will not work with XP. I don't own a Blu-ray drive just yet but I'd buy the LG drive since it has had great reviews & it can be used with XP. The one other thing to think about is the software that you'd use with a Blu-ray drive. From what I've read and discussed with moderator redwudz is that most have had to buy ANYDVD for the Blu-ray discs to work correctly on their computers.Originally Posted by malev
Moderator redwudz just purchased the PIONEER Blu-Ray drive that can also write to BD. I'm sure he'll have lots of information on it once he installs it into one of his computers.
Just my 2 cents!
I have the GGW-H20L and am very happy with it.

AFAIK all the LG's are "riplocked" to read BD-ROM (BDMV) @ 4.8x, which makes for longer ripping times of BD Movies, which is why I switched to Pioneer
