Just bought a Soniq QV191LC (TV+DVD player combo) which was region 4. Phoned up their support line in NZ (a red card with the AU and NZ numbers on it came with the player) and they gave me the region-free method over the phone with no questions.
1. Switch on
2. Switch to DVD mode (use Source button on remote)
3. Select DVD setup menu (press DVD button on remote)
4. Select Preferences page (use > key on remote)
5. Press '0' key 4 times on remote: the Region Code menu will appear
6. Use up and down on remote to select region (0 of course)
7. Press exit button, and all is working!
I strongly suspect that you can get the region-free method for any other model by calling the support line as well - they are very helpful (here in NZ/AU we're region 4 and practically nothing is available as region 4, so we all buy region 1 form the US or region 2 from the UK)
Now of course you want the phone number and... I lost it . Takes a day to register for the forum and in the meantime I lost the card. Doh. Will post if I ever find it...
