I just bought a new i7 dell computer with vista 64. Supposed to be the most smoking fast computer. Problem is it will not boot up. Just hangs there with a blank black screen. Currently going through tech support and they have yet to find a problem with my system. Any ideas?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Check all connections
Monitor ok? plug it into another pc to check
Is there power? do you hear the drive (if mechanical), and see lights turn on?
Try booting with 1 of 3 memory sticks at a time, then switch -
dell's problem not yours. it should have been tested before leaving the factory. send it back.

It worked initially. It will start to boot up so monitor is not bad. Gives me option to start windows normally or do repair. Each option gives black screen.

Gday,
Have you updated the drivers for the video card lately by manual update or windows update?. During POST it does not use the drivers specific for that video card, if it is allowable by Dell because it is under warranty (I assume) try another video card in it and see if it boots normally.

He said everything is fine just reinstall windows and drivers and all is well. Well if it "Glitches" again I will definately be po'd.

Disconnect the power cord from the power supply and then try to power the cpu up. I recall hearing a problem with Dell Studio cpus having a problem waking up from sleep mode. Do a search for"Dell Studio Wakeup" and you'll see what i mean.

Tech support did that wake up thing about a zillion times. It did not help. Tech support said as soon as you reinstall windows and the drivers then you can install the remaining ram and everything should be fine.
