  2. Chronomaster's patcher tested on Flash10o.ocx (IE activex); working perfect.
Thanks for the "manual" choice btw Chrono, i'd rather the soft only patches and I move the file myself.

Try the location/file below. I found this location after some googling so I don't know if it's the same for every Mac OS.
Just remember to change the filetype from "Flash (*.dll;*.ocx)" to "All Files (*.*)" in my program.

    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin

Flash Player.plugin is really just a folder containing more folders a bunch of files. I tried to patch some of them, but it didn't work. If someone knows which file it is, please let me know.

I couldn't patch IE with the chronomaster file. Said it wasn't compatible with my version of IE. I have IE7 with IE7 Pro and also have IE5.5, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 on an external drive for testing.

The link for the updated copy doesn't work for me. It just keeps opening another copy of this page.

    Firefox 4 patched fine.

By the sound of it, your version of Flash for Internet Explorer is lower than the 10.2 that is required.
(The error box should show your flash version)

Goto http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/?installer=Flash_Player_10.2_for_Windows_I...ernet_Explorer and install the latest Flash 10.2 for IE.

Retry patching Flash for IE. Also, make sure that you're using version 1.01 of my program or higher.

    Thanks! That was the problem.

Something that I notice in Firefox that I never noticed before is a new player popping up under the original window on some websites when I hit the full screen button. Is this due to Firefox 4 or the website?

It's a pain since there is no way to minimize the page to see the clip. I have to click on the bar of the player to get it to come to the top.

  11. Flash for Mac OS Instructions

Patching Flash for Mac OS does work, but it requires a little more work locating
the file as the file is located in an archive within an archive.

    * The ".plugin" files are archives and may show up as a folder,
otherwise you need to right-click and select "Show Package Contents".

Note: Remember to close any open web browsers.

    1. Goto /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/

    2. Open* Flash Player.plugin

    3. In Flash Player.plugin goto Contents > PlugIns

    4. Open* FlashPlayer-{Your Mac OS Version}.plugin
(Example: My file was "FlashPlayer-10.4-10.5.plugin" for Mac OS 10.5.5)

    5. In FlashPlayer-{Your Mac OS Version}.plugin goto Contents > MacOS

    6. Copy FlashPlayer-{Your Mac OS Version} and patch it using the "Other" option in my program on a
computer with windows. Ask a friend to patch the file if you don't have access to a computer with windows.

    7. Copy back the patched FlashPlayer-{Your Mac OS Version} into the folder.

    8. Close the open folders.

  12. Just patched 10.2.159.1 / Flash10p.ocx with Chrono's software, all OK.

  13. Arg, actually, something could be wrong. I've just had my 3rd BSOD on XP SP3 due to FLASH PLAYER and i've not had a BSOD in years.

I'm curently trying an original (unpatched) 10.2.159.1 / Flash10p.ocx to see how things go..

    Data for Flash10p.ocx :
    Patched MD5: 1C2E93B9EB26CD2BF4353F67438DB5DD
    Original MD5: 67C04FFC699B37E1B15D702D723348BB

Edit: there seem to be something wrong indeed with the patch and 10.2.159.1.
I went back and forth between the original .OCX and the patched .OCX. It never crashes with the original and always crashes with the patched OCX after going fullscreen/coming back, kinda random.

By crashing, I mean full BSOD! (on XP)
Something seems to go wrong between the patched .OCX and the nvidia driver, this locks the GPU and after a few seconds, XP BSOD.

Again, no such issue with the unpatched .OCX so far..

  14. Hey theshadowrunner - I just DLed and installed the update to 10.2.159.1 as Adobe's nagging reminder showed up again. I was holding out for a while on moving off of 10.1.x.x and moved forward tonight. I'm also running an older system with Win XP SP3 and so far no issues or BSOD. I've tested it with several different videos both full screen and small size and no issues. I tried it in FF 3.6.16 (not on 4 yet) and also IE 8.0.x.x and so far no problems.

Is it possible ... that you might have a corrupted DL of either Flash or Chrono's program?

I've had to go as far as uninstalling and deleting the entire Adobe flash environment and starting over before life was happy with a previous version of ESC remover tweek. Just sayin ...

  15. Thanks for your report and testing oonixguy.
I don't think my files are corrupted but not 100% sure.
Could you check the MD5 of your patched Flash10p.ocx ?
    I have: 1C2E93B9EB26CD2BF4353F67438DB5DD

Also, I have a feeling it could be h264 DXVA related, but the strange thing is that the BSODs *only* occur with the patched OCX.. never with the original one.

If you are using an nVidia card, are you using the latest v270.61 WHQL nVidia drivers?
    See you,

  16. I checked and I have the same md5 for the patched ocx.
Also, I compared the data of the unpatched and patched ocx and I can see that it applyed my patch correctly.

This is the actionscript of the unpatched embedded fiash file that overlays the message that is in the OCX/DLL
    Code:

To skip the unnecessary message, I reduce the actionscript into a new flash file to:
    Code:
    _root.AlertResponseOverlayMessage = "close";
The OCX/DLL is hooked on to the variable AlertResponseOverlayMessage waiting for the
variable to be set with the string "close" from the flash overlay message before continuing.

    There is a command _root.AlertResponseOverlayMessage = "layout";,
but I had no need for it as it was working without it.

As I'm properly calling the close command within my flash replacement,
it should not be giving anyone any problems.

So I don't know why it is giving you problems and not anyone else that I know of yet.

I could make a patch for you with the layout response, but I will need to reinstall Adobe Flash Pro first.

    My System:
    NVIDIA 8800GTX w/ v260.99 Driver
    Windows 7 SP1 32-bit
    4GB RAM

  17. Chrono, thanks for your extensive answer.
I'm also clueless as to what exactly triggers the BSODs with the patched OCX but sadly it's totally consistent here: no crash with the original OCX and eventually a BSOD with the patched OCX.

I see you use nVidia 260.99, could you give it a try on v270.61 (which are the latest official WHQL)?

It seems to me nvidia rewrote the code for h264 hardware accelerated decoding / flash player support and that's what triggers BSODs with the patched Flash Player.

If you can, I will definitely take on your offer for a test patch with the layout response.
    Thanks again!

I installed Chronomaster's program on my friend's laptop and when he tries to play a clip on youtube etc, the video freezes up in fullscreen mode but plays fine when he exits fullscreen mode. This happens on IE8 but not sure about FF4. He is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. He wants me to get rid of the program.

How do I reverse the changes that the program made? Do I have to completely uninstall adobe flash for IE8 and FF4 and reinstall them?

There is no need to uninstall it first.

Thanks! I don't know why he is having this problem. I have it installed on my XP machine and don't have this problem.

  21. OK scratch this, the XP BSOD is after all NOT related to the patch, since XP has just crashed on me with the original/unpatched OCX too!! ;_;

Back to square one.. currently testing nVidia driver 266.58 WHQL + patched Flash v10.2.159.1 (Flash10p.ocx).. it looks like nvidia driver 270.61 WHQL could be in fact the sole culprit.

    See you,

  22. This whole business really was driving me nuts, but after messing with it for a while, I believe I've solved the problem without using this patch.

I changed the settings to disable hardware acceleration.

Right click the video image and select Settings. Click the first icon at the bottom, and you'll get a dialog box that allows you to clear the "Enable Hardware Acceleration" checkbox.

After doing that with version 10.2.159.1, the escape notice appeared for a few seconds then faded, so I could watch full screen.

The patch don't supposed solve playback problems on full screen
it just remove "Press Esc to ..." message on full screen.

  24. For info, after a week of testing, nvidia 266.58 WHQL + Patched Flash 10.2.159.1 never crashed on me.
I conclude the BSODs were triggered by 270.61 WHQL (again, i'm on XP).

Anyway, I want to discuss something. Does it happen to you, not with this version, but since 10.2.x.x versions, that when you switch to fullscreen, the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds until continue playing files?

Maybe only happens on my 'unpowerful' system, maybe only with YouTube videos (nah, happens with other sites), or maybe because of some kind of change from 10.2, or, maybe... maybe the patch, but I don't think so.

    Does it happen to you?

  27. vididex, yeah it happens since 10.2.x.x.
However with 10.2, sometimes the screen just stayed black after swtiching fullscreen.
Now with 10.3, the video comes back as you say after 1-2 seconds, looks like they fixed something!
