My wife and I gave each other a 42" Panasonic 1080i plasma for Christmas. HD programming from our cable provider was a whopping $9/month, so we hooked up on that too.

    We really enjoy it.

DVDs (SD) look really nice. One of my sons is prone to watch sporting events. They're stunning. My other son is captivated by Discovery and the Science Channel. Both are beautiful in HD. If you've never watched the "Planet Earth" series in HD, you're in for a real treat.

A couple of weeks ago, I watch the final round of The Masters on Sunday afternoon in HD. Augusta National is manicured to perfection in real life and watching that round in HD reminded me of being there.

Even my wife - who (bless her soul) will remind me in a heartbeat of a purchase that she didn't particularly approve of :P - enjoys and appreciates it.

Our 20-year-old Magnavox 35" CRT now lives in the bonus room and gives the boys something to play the occasional video game on. We have a cheap-ass 19" CRT in our bedroom and a premium vintage 19" CRT in our guest room.

NO TVS in the kids' rooms.

I had to pick "Other". I have a 61" Samsung rear projection LED DLP. Looks great and was a fraction of the cost of a similar sized LCD or Plasma. Because it's LED based there is no bulb to replace and no color wheel. I'm one of the minority that can see the rainbow effect on some DLP TVs - no problem with this one.

I have a 27" Hitachi SD CRT set in the basement for the kids. I also have a 13" RCA CRT (Wal-Mart special) in my bedroom so that I can catch the 11:00pm news.

    I have two CRT HDTV's:
    Sony KD-34XBR970 HDTV CRT
    Sony KD-34XBR910 HDTV CRT

With all my VHS to DVD stuff, it looks great and thus I can't imagine trying to watch it on an LCD. Maybe a Plasma. I've tried watching it on my Dell LCD (poor contrast ratio) and it's TERRIBLE.

I have a two year old LG 42" but its only 720p 1080I, but does the job nicely like others said SD sucks, but is very watchable, but i really only use it for my pc and watching my dvd converted films from my pc which it does amazingly.

But a CRT only uses an average of 88 watts compared to LCD's averaging around 177 watts.

I'm still using an old CRT as my main simply because a few older games that uses light gun (Atari 7800, Sega, Nintendo, etc) don't work at all on non CRT TVs. Also few of the oldest game systems (Atari 2600, Intellivision, Odyssey^2, etc) that had only RF output plays badly if at all on newer TV. Newer TV have a much finickier input requirement and often time no manual V hold to adjust with. Plus Atari 2600 have a very quirkly video design that can cause some games to just not work at all on newer TVs.

Eventually I'll get a newer panel type TV just for watching satellite and DVDs and leave CRT separate just for older video games. But right now, my place is too small and my wallet is too empty.

    27" JVC CRT, circa 2006, SDTV, ATSC+QAM
20" Sharp LCD, circa 2006, EDTV
    13" Emerson CRT, circa 1992

"Primary" depends on what room I'm in. :P

33% say, "I don't have a tv" - WTF are you people doing on a videohelp forum? Watching Youtube on your PC? Gilligan's Island on you iPod?

Primary set is a 60" Pioneer 6070 HD plasma, with a 26" Insignia HD LCD as secondary/backup. Got rid of a 200-lb 35" Mitsubishi CRT when I got the Pioneer. SD CRTs are garbage.

Tuner cards give the ability to watch TV programming and not own one.

Hitachi CRT Rear Projection 51 inch 16x9 1080i HDTV

Poll choices are limited here. No projection choices for instance. No DLP choice, etc.

Sorry Fulci - I totally forgot about projection sets, and DLP does come under projection. Even with projection listed under other, it seems to be a small group. I'm also very surprised that the no TV option jumped up overnight .

I have a 20" CRT and a 13" CRT (either of which might be considered my primary TV), plus a 17" CRT monitor for my computer. All my CRTs are at least 7 years old. I'll keep 'em until they wear out, or I hit the lottery (not likely, since I rarely buy a ticket).

I still have my Toshiba 36” SDTV CRT. It’s a huge monstrosity, which I bought some years ago from Costco. I took it home after a couple workers loaded it up in my SUV. I tried to set it up in my house by myself but it was like trying to wrestle a 600 lbs. sumo gorilla with a fat belly… no where to grab. I struggled about an hour. Finally, I had someone come over next day to help and there it sits in the same place all these years.

    DON'T DROP IT.

Apple will not replace it, and they will know.
