    ok my vlc media player has been acting up. when ever im watching a movie the player for no reason switches to 4:3 ration or 16:9 or makes the volume loud or quiet. its really weird what do you recommend? im running on a vista system

    What version of VLC? Have you tried uninstall and reinstall? (Delete the settings file when reinstalling) I suspect the settings file is corrupt.

    i reinstalled the new version and every time im turning the volume up it randomly goes up or down also when im watcing the movie it will randomly change the aspect ration if i touch the mouse pad on my laptop

    I haven't seen that yet. Make sure your display driver and mouse driver are current.

    Did you choose to delete the existing VLC settings when you reinstalled?
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

    Does the volume randomly and wildly change (considerably), or is it more of an equalizer type of effect?

    I've spent some time looking through the VLC settings, and I'm not sure if there are any that could be causing wild shifts in volume and aspect ratio... more so, as you did say you've reset the settings at least once. It might be a good idea to ask this question on the VLC forums as well (http://forum.videolan.org/ ); maybe the VLC devs will have a better idea what might be happening.

    sweet but i think its more of a problem with my computer then the program it self ill try to reinstall vista cuz i haven't done that yet on my lap top
