I want to split my MKV video that is 8gb into two MKV videos that's 4gb. How do I do that? Thanks. I tried VirtualDub, but it said the file type is incompatible.

Okay, and I can easily cut my video in half with one of these programs? I'm downloading it now.

    1) click add, select your mkv
    2) global tab, select enable splitting, after this size, enter your size
    3) press start muxing

This will make a copy of your mkv file split into segments specified by the size in step 2

Any idea about how to split into parts based on timecodes? I was told that the format below would create 3 files but it hasn't worked for me.

    "02:20:00.000,17:35:00.000"

    1: from 00:00:00 to 02:20:10
    2: from 02:20:00 to 17:35:00
3: from 17:35.00 to the end

It creates a new file but of the same length and size as the original. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If i split a large mkv (over 8gb) using this method, to archive the file over >1 dual layer dvdr (or indeed over several single layer dvdrs), how do i stick the file back together again using the dvdrs on my Hard drive?

    Thanks
