Ok so I have my Xbox 360 connected up to the BlackMagic Intensity card, works fine.

But I'm trying to get video pass-through from the HDMI output on the Intensity to my TFT monitor using a HDMI > DVI-D cable. All I get on screen is garbled yellow picture reporting a resolution of 3320x768.

HOWEVER, if I connect the HDMI > DVI-D cable directly from the 360 to my TFT the picture is 100% ok.

I've looked in the control panel for controlling the output of the Intensity and I can't find anything.

    Please advise.

Normal mode for the Intensity is to loop HDMI in to HDMI monitor off the card. Are you connected YPbPr from X-Box? If so you may need a component DA.

I thought HDCP prevented a direct XBox 360 HDMI connection to a recording device. Or was that the P3?

Better wait for others to chime in.

There's no HDCP on the 360, only when playing movies.

And yeah I'm guessing the monitor doesn't support YPbPr (component?).

But how do other HDMI devices get around displaying signals to DVI monitors?

HDMI -> DVI-D works for me from my camcorders, DVD players and HD cable box.

I've got two Samsung computer monitors with HDCP that work in every case. I've also got a Viewsonic without HDCP that only works with the camcorders. I don't own an XBox360.

Well when I connect the HDMI > DVI-D cable from the 360 to the TFT there are no HDMI options on the 360 (like there are when connecting to the Intensity). So presumably it's adjusting the signal to make it compatible. But the TFT supports a resolution of 1280x720 which is standard HDMI spec, and I've seen it working on this.

If I knew what signal the Intensity was outputting I'd have a better chance of diagnosing the problem, but so far that remains a mystery.

Have you tried setting your 360 to 720 (instead of 1080)? Same with the Intensity?

(Trying to match your monitor's native res...)
    Have a good one,

Yeah the 360 is set on 720p.

Interestingly, if I start the 360 when connected to the TFT (so it displays a picture), then swap the HDMI cable with the Intensity I'm able to still receive a picture on the Intensity. So on that front the TFT/Intensity must be compatible in a sense. But still the same garbled output on the HDMI out.

I'm guessing the Intensity only does YCbCr on HDMI out, when the TFT needs a sRGB signal to work.

I'll try and get a hold of a 1x2 HDMI splitter see if that works.

This is true. The Intensity works only for YCbCr in over HDMI.

For those interested the passive HDMI splitter worked.

Both the Intensity and TFT working off the same signal.
