Is there a way to display the newest replies first (pages) w/ oldest last

I would like to be able to reverse the order of replies from the default of oldest to most recent to the most recent to oldest.

One can see the most recent or new post to subjects that they have looked at or replied to. But I mean just in general when browsing the topics as some have many pages and it takes some time to view the most recent.

Some forum boards have this option in user preferences.

Any thread with more than one page has the number of pages at the bottom of the page. You can choose to just to a specific page, or the first or last page of the thread. It also tells you in the thread list, and allows you to open a thread on the last page immediately.

On the list of recent topics, click on the "page" icon in the "Last post" column to go to that post directly. You'll still have to scroll up, though. Also if you hover the mouse pointer over this, it should pop up a preview of the last post.
