We have a large collection of beta tapes that need to be converted to flash (flv format) for a website project we are working on.

We currently have a Canopus ADVC-100 capture device and are able to capture to avi and convert to flash. This is a complicated process.

I have searched and cannot find any solution other than Adobe's Flash Media Live Encoder. While this will work, it's a bit pricey for our project.

    Are there any other solutions?

    Thank you

Can you be more specfic? Are you looking to improve the capture process , or the conversion from avi to flv process? For the latter, you could use WinFF (free) for batch conversion AVI=>FLV

Also what kind of flv are you interested in? (video and audio formats, e.g. h.264, vp6, aac audio vs mp3 etc....) As this may limit your options.

I'm looking to capture directly to FLV.

Sound quality isn't that important on this. Video quality needs to be better than youtube but doesn't need to be HD.

You can't capture directly to FLV.

Consider paying somebody else to do the work for you.

Why do you say that I can't capture to FLV? Adobe's Flash Media Live Encoder does it. I'm just looking to see if any other solution exists.

This is a huge project. We have close to 2000 beta cams that need to be transfered.

It's not a capturing format, it's a final output format. It will look pretty crappy captured directly.
