i have 2 .srt scripts and an .avi movie. what i need in the end is one file with 2 switchable subtitle tracks. i have been told that putting softsubs i avi is a bad idea, and have been recommended mkv. is there a step by step guide for smth like this?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

press add & select the avi, subs. press "start muxing". done. -

Windows Media Player with the help from Haali Media Splitter. -
I would use AVISub or Sub2Divx, they allow you to make a .divx (a .avi container) with as many subs as you want, the subs are called .xsub, do a search here for more info, you can change the font, size, shadow, etc and the file will play in a divx DVD player, been using this for a couple of years now, very good.
