    Hello!

I recently bought a SONY DVP-NS708H player which apparently plays Divx.

I have a MacBook and I simply cant burn correctly my avi files. Whenever I try, the DVD player says "cannot load Disk". It simply wont load. Do i simply drag and drop the files to the empty DVD disk or do I have to do something else????

What am I doing wrong? can someone please help me I am desperate....

    Thank you

    yannis

You didn't provide much in the way of information, so here are generalities:

    1) Make sure that the Divx file is encoded within the parameter ranges your player accepts (read the manual). If the bitrates, resolutions, audio parameters, etc. are not within certain constraints, the player will refuse to play it.

    2) Simply burn the disc with the divx file as normal data.

    3) Make sure that you are not using crappy blank media.

If you have successfully played a divx movie on that player, try encoding your others the same way, and burn them on the same type of media. It's easiest to debug if you start from a known good configuration.

    tomlee59,

    Thank you for that.

Apologies for not providing enough information but I am fairly new in the world of cpus and was not quite sure what kind of info I should have uploaded.

I will follow your advice and fingers crossed.

    Thank you for replying

Most likely the player wants the DivX/XviD disc to have the ISO 9660 file system, perhaps UDF is good too. Just make sure the disc is not burned with just the HSF+ filesystem. The built-in Mac OS burn feature uses a HSF+/ISO 9660 hybrid, so that should have good compatibility, but if all else fails, you may want to check out burnings apps that do straight ISO 9660.
