Hi. My friend's band has some webcasts I would like to capture & burn to DVD.Is it possible to hook up my Mac Book Pro to a HDD DVD Recorder using DVI to Video Adapter? What should I know before I attempt this?

So all I have to do is hookup a HD DVD Recorder to my Mac Book Pro, play the Flash video on my computer, then hit record on my HD DVD Recorder? This sounds too easy. I haven't bought a HD DVD Recoder yet, so I can't try it out. I just want to see if it's possible first.

Has anyone successfully recorded a webcast from their Mac Book Pro onto a DVD Recorder with HD, then burnt that file on to a DVD?

I don't think it will work.

Wouldn't be easier to try record the webcast stream and burn it? Using for example downloadhelper and firefox.

I do this on a semi regular basis with stuff that will play on my Mac,
in the browser, but for some reason hoses when trying to convert
    throughQuicktime or VisualHub to DVD.
    I use a DVD-R Recorder ( non HD)
but the principles are the same.

    You'll need two things:
    1. An Apple DVI to Video adapter, and if yoru HD DVD Recorder
accepts video via S-Video, an S-video Cable

    2. A Y Plug ( Stereo mini 1/8in on one side, that goes "Y" to two RCA stero
(R/W) plugs, to hook into your Mac's Headphone port.

    Now For the playback.

    1. With Video adapter in, set Mac to Mirror Desktop out to in of DVD Recorder.
With a TV or a Monitor hooked to the DVD Recorder's Video Out,
make sure video signal is recieved. If not, set video inputs
on DVD Recorder until you get the Mac's Desktop displayed.

    2. Hook up "Y" stereo cable to mac out to DVD Recorders audio In.

    3. Play Flash Video on your computer. IF you can, like Baldrick suggests,
download the video using download helper, and Play it back in Quicktime
Pro with Perian installed, You can then play it back Full Screen on your
Mac, and thus get Full Screen out to the DVD Recorder ( make sure
to hide the dock first, and turn off any screen savers, and apps
that might bounce in the dock like System Updates, Entourage, Mail,
    etc.)

if you are getting good playback, and you are getting good sound
(keep Quicktime sound up HIGH, keep System sound up at 70%
or higher) then after one run through to make sure everything
goes out ok, you'll be ready to record directly to the DVD Recorder.

If you cannot download it, You could try and record the stream
by playing it back in QT Pro or MpegStreamclip, but buffering issues
will cause you to have some skips and stutters as it fills the buffer.
Just be aware of that and know that will be your trade off
if you can't download it to the Mac and have to play it streaming.

I am afraid the video stream cannot be downloaded. It can only be played on the sites embedded player. The only way to watch it is on the site's player. I would like to record it on the fly via HDD. I guess I can if I hook up my computer (Mac) to my DVD Recorder. The hit play on the Flash video and hit record on the DVD player. I'm not sure what file format it will be recorded as on my HDD player or if I can burn that to DVD. Maybe I will have to convert the file. Anyway I just got my DVD recorder last night & will try this weekend. Any other suggestions?

It's a 3 hour concert in HD. The files are very large.
