    Greetings,

In my previous editing in DV, I captured to AVI files. While AVI files are not exactly a codec . . . . I noted the software I am using does not allow capture of an HDV data stream to AVI files.

My question is, are there HDV non linear editing products which do capture to AVI files?

I know, the file sizes would be very large when compared to MPEG and others, but I really don't like spending large sums of cash on video recorder hardware (to get a very good image) and then compress the data just to save space and time. I would rather work as much as possible with non compressed files.

    Thank you
    Allen

Use Cineform Neo Scene. It is a very high quality codec that is specifically designed to minimize loss as well as be editor friendly. The Cineform utility will convert HDV from the camera to its own codec on the fly.
