Ok, so empty cells in new-ish DVDs to throw off the audio isn't new, but WHY can't I get around the problem?

Take High School Musical 2 for example; trying to a) back it up and b) convert it for my laptop so the kids have something to watch on holiday without having to take DVDs along.

DVD Decrypter alone fails to rip it.

DVDFab 5 rips it ok but the conversion in AutoGK is out of sync.

AnyDVD reckons it's removed the invalid cells fine and the rip with DVDDecrypter then works ok, but the subsequent AutoGK output has NO audio and only about 100 of the vertical pixels of the video actually show.

    As above with RipIt4Me

    Can anyone help?

When you ripped with DVDFab did you try only the main movie (ie: without the menu and extra's etc)?

I tried both to no avail.

Is RipIt4Me / AnyDVD compatible with DVDFab? Might that combination work?

Some of these programs are getting on a bit now, and I'd like to say that the protection is just ahead of the software and ask 'is there a better option'...but the point is, people DO seem to be getting this done without any problems...I just can't figure it out.

When you ripped with DVDFab (latest v5?), was it direct from the disc or from the RipIt4Me files on your HDD? If from the HDD version possibly try direct from the disc main movie only (or customize, no menu etc).

Other than that, are you using the latest autogk?

Yes to my versions: both are up to date. I ripped the movie straight from the disc, and I tried both the full disc and the main movie only settings.

  6. Run it through FixVTS afterwards. Often times DVDFab HD Decrypter doesn't give you a "clean" decrypt.

Got it sorted in the end, RipIt4Me + DVDDecrypter with all the post-rip cleanups decided to work the second time.

    Thanks for all your help

That's why I suggested FixVTS, and that's why RipIt4Me worked - because it automatically runs FixVTS after the DVD Decrypter step. FixVTS cleans out the unreferenced cells that are throwing off the audio synch.

Thank you. Perhaps thats why it didnt work the first time but did the second; maybe I missed on the of the steps after the decryption.
