I have some videos, 720x480 resolution in OpenDivx4 codec. Unfortunately my DVD player can't play that. It can play Xvid and Divx, as long as nothing weird has been done with motion compensation.

Is there a way to convert from OpenDivx4 to Divx or Xvid without losing video quality?

You could try changing the FouurCC to Xvid or DX50 to see if that fools the player. If that doesn't work, try remuxing with AVI Demux (using Copy mode). Filaing that you may well have to re-encode.
