Hi -
I am wanting to burn a dvd data disc of many avi files and
would like to know what tool will let me create a decent menu
with clik-able play buttons representing each avi file. I have
many avi files and started to burn dvd data discs of these
and they play great in our dvd players that are connected to
our tvs. However, the players display very simple menus and
are different from player to player.
I would like to find a menu creation program for this specific
application, i.e. avi files (and perhaps mpg's too) burned as
data to dvd-r discs.
thank you.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

There are dozens of tools to create auto-play CD menus, or you could create a simple HTML page. However none of them are particularly fancy, and they will only work in a PC. No stand alone player will recognise them.
The closest there is for stand alone players are Divx Ultra menus, which will only work with Divx encoded AVI files, and only play back in Divx Ultra certified players.Read my blog here.

DivX Ultra menus can be displayed by DivX-Ultra certified DVD players. If you want to go that route, and your player supports it, the site's tools list shows several DivX authoring aps. I've only tried it for regular DVDs, but TMPGEnc Authoring Works is likely good for DivX authoring too.
There are no other menuing options for DVD players and non-DVD-standard video.
