Hi, first of all i don't know if this got to right place but i'll give it a shot....
As a primary project i building a portable recording / player with a camera for a friend who is a diver and we trying
to make a computerless system so we can record into a Usb flash stick and / or HDD.
The whole thing fits in to a aluminum case with a 7" Lcd monitor - portable media player with a 80Gb SATA-
and a Pinnacle video transfer unit to grabb the camera signals , So far so good BUT !!!!
Pinnacle's unit uses H.264 and media playern CAN'T read or even understand H.264 !!! kind of weird because it seem's to take about everything else in video formats.
Pinnacle say is no way to uppgrade or flash this unit to another coding than H.264 and the maker of media player'n
say is no way to flash or uppgrade playern'n to H.264......
    So now to my question !!! Is there a way to get a H.264 signal to a Divx , Mpeg2-3-4 - Avi .... without a computer ???
The whole idea is to record and play from a *suitcase*out in field straight in to a extern HDD,
    Many thanx in advance,
    Kjell in Sweden..
P.s sorry if my english is little bit rusty....

I don't see how it would be possible without a third device/computer.

Do you have any more information about the recorder and player? Model names?

Hi , i copied this page on this media player,
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=230324389629
and recording unit is Pinnacle's video transfer,
    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSit...o+Recorder.htm
did some more reading on the net and now i think i need to sell Pinnacle'n and buy a digital video recorder instead...
