Avi file wont play when playing with .srt subtitle

i ripped a movie to avi format using handbrake. then i ripped the subtitle using subrip. i can play the avi by itself but when i try to play the avi with .srt on WMP / WMP Classic. It just hangs. WMP and directVObSub loads but doesnt start playing. I have aldready used subtitle workshope to fix all information/errors. i think it has to do with the resolution of my video because it is related to just this avi, not this srt. (i can play the SRT with any different avi, but any SRT will not work with this AVI). So something with this AVI is causing SRT to not play properly.

Perhaps VOBSub has problem with AVC codec youre using?
Try ffdshow for overlaying subtitles instead, personally I prefer it for long time when it comes to text subtitles.
